The Dajjal and the False Dajjals: A Warning from the Words of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
The Dajjal is considered one of the greatest tests among the signs of the Day of Judgment. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) provided detailed information about him to warn us of his deceptive trials. He also drew attention to the false Dajjals who will appear before the Dajjal and prepare people for the great tribulation — these are the “smaller Dajjals.”
Who is the Dajjal?
The word “Dajjal” is derived from the root word dajl, which means to deceive or to confuse. The Dajjal will appear before the Day of Judgment and try to deceive people with powers that will seem like miracles. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) described him as follows:
“There is no prophet who did not warn his people about the one-eyed liar (Dajjal). Certainly, your Lord is not one-eyed, but the Dajjal is blind in his right eye, and his eye will be like a swollen grape.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No: 7127)
The Dajjal will be granted extraordinary powers by Allah to test humanity. He will claim to bring down rain, bless the earth with crops, and even resurrect the dead. However, all of this will be nothing but deceptions, aimed at misleading people from the right path.
The Role of the Dajjal in the End Times
The Dajjal will be a one-eyed individual capable of performing any miracle to deceive those who follow him. He will appear during the most chaotic and unjust period in human history. He will present himself as a god and attempt to lead people away from their faith in Allah. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“He will have water and fire with him. What people will think is water will actually be burning fire, and what they think is fire will be cool and sweet water.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No: 7130)
The Dajjal’s deceptions will be so powerful that even some believers may be in danger. Therefore, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised us to memorize the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf and recite them regularly.
The 30 False Dajjals Before the Dajjal
Before the arrival of the Dajjal, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) foretold the appearance of thirty liars or smaller Dajjals:
“Before the Hour, thirty liars will emerge. Each one will claim to be a prophet.”
(Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith No: 4333)
These smaller Dajjals will present false ideologies and heretical beliefs, weakening people both spiritually and morally. They will work to prepare society for the Dajjal’s fitnah (tribulation) and make them susceptible to his influence.
The Importance of Faith and Preparation
The appearance of the Dajjal and the false Dajjals will be a major test for Muslims. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized that the best way to protect ourselves from the Dajjal is to continually strengthen our faith and remain firmly committed to our religious practices. In one of the hadiths, he said:
“Anyone who sees the Dajjal should read the traces of the Prophet, and anyone who does not see him should ask Allah for protection from him.”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith No: 2941)
This shows that the most effective protection against the Dajjal is to stay firmly grounded in the teachings of Islam and always follow the straight path. Additionally, as suggested in Muhammad Qasim’s dream, regularly reading Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas will protect a person from the influence of the Dajjal and other evils.
Ways to Protect from the Dajjal and Satan
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) offered several recommendations for safeguarding ourselves from the fitnah of the Dajjal and Satan:
1. Strengthening Faith: Strengthening our belief in Allah and understanding the concept of Tawhid (the Oneness of Allah) is the most important shield.
2. Reciting Surah Al-Kahf: Reciting the first and last ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will act as a protective shield against the Dajjal’s deceptions.
3. Making Du’a (Supplications): Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us the following supplication:
“O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the trials of the Dajjal.”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith No: 1343)
4. Regularly Reading Quranic Surahs: Specifically, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas offer strong protection from the whispers of Satan.
Muhammad Qasim’s Dream: An Important Vision
A significant part of modern Islamic eschatology involves the dreams of Muhammad Qasim ibn Abdul Karim. Muhammad Qasim is known for his meaningful dreams and visions, particularly those concerning the Dajjal and the smaller Dajjals, which carry profound messages.
In one of his dreams, Muhammad Qasim saw the Dajjal and his followers and received a symbolic message. In his dream, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) told him:
“No matter what happens, you are one of my Ummah.”
These words carry an important message. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized that all Muslims, regardless of their ethnicity or lineage, are considered part of his Ummah. Likewise, this dream signifies that every Muslim standing against the Dajjal and his smaller followers must remain on the right path, and their strong connection with the Prophet (PBUH) will serve as their protection. This dream serves as a reminder that the faithful are under the protection of Allah.
Muhammad Qasim bin Abdul Karim’s Dream
Muhammad Qasim bin Abdul Karim is believed to have received meaningful dreams. According to his own account, he was instructed by Allah to recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas every night before sleeping. This practice was a means of seeking protection from the influence of Satan and his deceptions.
These surahs contain powerful messages that teach seeking refuge in Allah and protection from both internal and external dangers:
• Surah Al-Ikhlas: Emphasizes the essence of Tawhid and the Oneness of Allah.
• Surah Al-Falaq: Teaches seeking Allah’s refuge from external dangers.
• Surah An-Nas: Provides protection from Satan’s whispers and internal threats.
Final Words
The trials of the Dajjal and the false Dajjals are major tests. However, Allah has shown us ways to protect ourselves from these trials. Strengthening our faith, adhering to the teachings of the Quran, and following the advice of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will protect us from these great tribulations.
May Allah protect us from the fitnah of the Dajjal and Satan and make us among those who achieve success on the Day of Judgment. Ameen.
